Discover the Island of the Gods — temples, beaches, rice terraces, and vibrant culture
Bali remains Australia's favourite international destination, welcoming over 1.5 million Australian visitors annually. This Indonesian island province offers an extraordinary blend of ancient Hindu temples, world-class surfing, lush rice terraces, and a thriving food scene — all at remarkably affordable prices. Whether you're seeking a luxury retreat in Seminyak, a cultural immersion in Ubud, or an adventure-packed holiday in Uluwatu, Bali delivers experiences that punch well above its price point. Direct flights from major Australian cities take just 5–7 hours, making it one of the most accessible tropical getaways from the east coast.
Explore the beauty of Bali — from ancient temples and rice terraces to stunning beaches and vibrant culture.
"Skip the tourist traps in Kuta and head straight to Canggu or Uluwatu for a more authentic Bali experience. The best time to visit temples is early morning (before 8am) when the light is magical and the crowds haven't arrived yet."

The iconic cascading rice paddies near Ubud are Bali's most photographed landscape. Visit at sunrise for the best light and smallest crowds. The swing over the terraces is worth the queue.
Perched on a dramatic 70-metre cliff, Uluwatu Temple offers the most spectacular sunset in Bali. Stay for the traditional Kecak fire dance performance that starts at dusk.
From Potato Head to Ku De Ta, Seminyak's beach clubs offer world-class cocktails, infinity pools, and legendary sunsets. Book a daybed in advance during peak season.

Bali is a sensory overload in the best possible way. The scent of frangipani and incense greets you at every turn, from the ornate temple gates of Ubud to the beach clubs of Seminyak. The island seamlessly blends ancient Hindu traditions with modern luxury — you can watch a traditional Kecak fire dance at sunset and be sipping cocktails at a rooftop bar an hour later.

Bali's Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) is located in the south of the island, just 13km from the popular tourist hub of Kuta. Direct flights from Australia are available from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, and Darwin, with flight times ranging from 3.5 hours (Darwin) to 7 hours (Melbourne). The airport underwent a major renovation and now features a stunning Balinese-inspired international terminal with excellent duty-free shopping and lounges.
Bali offers accommodation for every budget and style. Seminyak is the go-to for beach clubs, boutique hotels, and fine dining. Ubud is the cultural heart — think rice terrace views, yoga retreats, and artisan workshops. Uluwatu draws surfers and cliff-top villa seekers. Canggu has emerged as the digital nomad capital with hip cafes and co-working spaces. For families, Nusa Dua offers all-inclusive resorts with calm, protected beaches.
The most popular way to get around Bali is by hiring a private driver for the day (around AUD $40–60). Ride-hailing apps like Grab and Gojek work well in tourist areas but are restricted near some hotels and the airport. Scooter rental is cheap (AUD $5/day) but traffic can be chaotic — only experienced riders should consider this option. For island-hopping to Nusa Penida or the Gili Islands, fast boats depart from Sanur and Padang Bai.
Bali is remarkably affordable for Australians. A local meal costs AUD $2–5, a Bintang beer is under $2, and a one-hour Balinese massage runs about $10–15. Mid-range restaurants in Seminyak charge $15–30 for mains. ATMs are widely available but stick to bank-attached machines to avoid skimming. Always carry some cash for temples, markets, and smaller establishments.

Absolutely loved Bali! The temples in Ubud were breathtaking and the food was incredible. Booked through Webjet and got a great deal on Jetstar flights.
Great holiday destination. Traffic in Kuta can be frustrating but Seminyak and Uluwatu were amazing. Would recommend staying at least 10 days.
